The former co-host of The Talk has joined ABC's comedy pilot White Van Man, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Based on the British format Van revolves around a man (Kyle Bornheimer) who is forced to put his dreams on hold in order to take over the family handyman business from his father Tony (J.K. Simmons).
Remini will play Terry, Tony's sister, who is described as a Patricia Clarkson-type in a bohemian shirt and head scarf. While Tony still wants to run the business despite his bad ticker, Terry is charged with keeping him in line when he tries to sneak out to go to work again.
Bobby Bowman (Raising Hope) will write and exec produce the pilot alongside Mark Gordon, Andrea Shay and Paul Buccieri with Michael Fresco on board to direct the single-camera comedy from ABC Studios.
The casting comes seven months after Remini departed CBS' morning talk show and marks the former King of Queens star's return to series comedy.
Remini is repped by UTA and Del Shaw.
